Bachelor's Degree

A Master of Arts degree is one type of master's degree that you can earn. Under this one type of degree, though, comes a great deal of variation. No two Masters of Arts programs are alike. There are many types of Master of Arts degrees that you can choose to work on earning. You can earn a Master of Arts in several different areas of study, including education, fine arts, theology, and social sciences. Many of these areas of study also have specialties on which you can choose to focus your studies.

You will also find that there are many differences between different university programs within the same area of study. For example, one college may have an extensive Master of Arts education program, whereas another college does not have a program that is quite as first-rate. Or, one university may offer a Master of Arts in history program which involves exploration of several important world museums. Another university program for the same field of study may not involve any type of field work and may instead have students study art history from photos, books, and online. Therefore, it is important to compare programs before choosing a university.

Different Master of Arts programs will also vary in the length of time they take to complete. Some education programs can take several years to complete, whereas some other programs, such as some that are offered in the arts, may take only a year.

There are also two different ways in which you can earn a Master of Arts degree. First of all, you could choose to earn your degree on campus by physically attending a college or university. Most people choose this option. Some master's degrees earned in this manner do include field work or research studies that are done off campus, but the main idea is to attend classes at the college or university. The second available choice would be to choose an online college or university. While this has not been an option for too many years, it is quickly growing in popularity.

If you would like to attend an online college or university, it is very important to do some research first. You need to make sure that the school you choose is regionally accredited. If it is, the Master of Arts degree you earn will be as valid as that of any earned at from any regular college.
